BIOGRAPHY :: ROBERTO BOSCO
Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 5:48PM
ROBERTO BOSCO is a young Italian producer that constantly digs deeper into his own dimension for his productions. As a DJ, he is intuitive and empathetic, reading and connecting with a crowd in the way that some of the greatest DJs have in the last 30+ years. By early 2010, he had releases on Orlando Voorn's Night Vision (remixing Juan Atkins), François K's Wave Music, Samuel L. Session's Klap Klap and Len Faki's Figure. The 'Circle Dub' EP (click for samples) on Faki's imprint shows Bosco's versatility in techno. Heavily influenced from 90s German and Dutch electronic music, his style is in touch with the thick, cerebral techno that's currently lauded on Resident Advisor and mnml ssgs and blasted within the walls of Berghain and Fabric. He also released on Shlomi Aber's Be As One, which attracted the interest of Loco Dice, Gui Boratto, Kate Simko and Agoria.
After making his US debut at WMC 2010 on a bill with François, Radio Slave and others, he returned to Italy to begin working on Flying Donkey Music, a record label founded by himself and Claudio Mate. It's already off to a great start, with it's second release - a new work by Kirk Degiorgio - being charted by Peter Van Hoesen and featuring remixes by Abstract Souls (Bosco + Mate) and Conforce. Roberto will have his first original release on his own Flying Donkey Music in 2012. He also has a side project with London-based producer James Kumo under the moniker Ku.Bo.
And with podcasts coming out on the regular, Roberto is also contributing tracks to a variety of compilations. Most notably is a tribute to Aaron-Carl, made by 6one6 with all sales benefiting the late legend's family.
Other labels from the last few years include Instabil, Seventh Sign, MinimalSoul, Falkplatz and Snapshot. The near future bears release on Chez Damier's Balance Alliance, another release on Len Faki's Figure SPC as well as remix for Function + Jerome Sydenham. He'll also be working on a remix for Alexander Kowalski.
In between gigs, Roberto plays regularly for The Circle in his hometown of Salerno and Savana Potente in Torino. Recent guests at these parties include Levon Vincent, Nina Kraviz, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann and Steffi.
Roberto continues to make music with an effortless quality that commands the respect of his peers and recognition from legendary artists. He's proven himself as a producer, DJ and professional individual, and continues to drive himself towards an ideal intersect of creativity and output.

RECENT PRAISE
François K regarded Roberto's music as "having an effortless quality; an almost dazzling sense of ease that masks a very strong foundation; a depth and musical maturity that belies his young age." Having recently released new material from Roberto on Wave Music, he adds that "while he is already doing quite well, this is just a beginning. His career is going to blossom much further and turn him a major player on the international electronic music scene."
Orlando Voorn, a long-time legend from Amsterdam and founder of Night Vision selected Roberto to remix Juan Atkin's "Game One" in 2007, and then released an EP from the young artist, which features the hypnotic title track, "Close Your Eyes." Voorn heard Roberto through MySpace and was "impressed by his energetic and clean production. I signed him on Night Vision and off he went - watch out for him!"
