Reade Truth's career spans at least 20 years, covering affiliations and releases with cutting-edge and legendary labels such as Direct Drive, Strictly Rhythm, Sonic Groove, Instinct, Pomelo, Planet E, Wurst Music Co. and of course his own imprints: Path Records and White Label. His influences range from Skinny Puppy to Derrick May, and is one of the most versatile artists in the mix. He’s better known for his techno productions and style, but some of his more recent mixes show his funkier, housier and more experimental side. A key figure in the NY and Brooklyn scenes, Reade Truth has consistently provided an important source of edgy, often experimental electronics, always delivered with style.
Coming this March 2012, Reade will relocate to Turkey and will accomodate his demand in Europe and Japan. For bookings in the US, please get in touch to snag the last remaining dates for America up until the end of February 2012. All inquiries for N. America and beyond can be sent to vicki@forwardmgmt.net.
Notable:
+ In March 2011, Reade was a special guest at Planet E's 20th Anniversary celebration at Berghain (Berlin), in which he reinvigorated and reinvented his live set. To put it in context, other TWPENTY guests (in respective cities) included Derrick May (New York), Radio Slave + Francois K (London) and Moritz Von Oswald (Hamburg).
+ After Claude Young's triumphant return at the closing set of Movement's 'Made In Detroit' stage in 2011, he returned to America for a brief but intimate tour. Reade was the main support in September at Claude's New York show at the National Underground in Manhattan, playing a special live set.
While still a solidly established producer in techno, Reade has been showing his diverse taste through some of his latest mixes. He's the sort of artist that churns out quality mixes and tracks as second-nature - below are some of Forward's favorites of recent past.
Reade Truth - M.116 (Extended Edit) by ForwardManagement
"the color series will always be classic memory for me. i had 2 weeks before i moved out of vienna and returned to live in nyc. i had one of the best apts in vienna, with no possibility of noise complaint (yeah i sure miss that flat) i picked my fave record at the time and DJ'd for 3 days straight, recording every minute of it. when i finished a mix, i boxed up the records so they could be shipped to USA. i think you can hear that strife: it was the fear of unknown, but that decision was what happened, there is no right or wrong! there is just a soundtrack of emotion." - readetruth.
