Mia Grobelny, together with Falko Brocksieper, founded the label Sub Static in 2001. Sub Static was her main platform for releasing music, while also appearing on labels such as Trapez, Traum and Areal and providing remixes for Treibstoff, Monika Enterprise, Wonder, Italic, Dumb-Unit, Kitty-Yo and Fumalab.
Her first album, ‘Schwarzweiss’ (‘Black & White’) showcased her strengths beyond what she had already achieved on 12" - a long-form collection of original material that stood both on its own and along her broad musical context.
Her second album ‘Bittersüss’ (‘Bittersweet’), released in March 2007, brought her talents even more into focus, converging her music ideas with cover design. Mario Kiener’s photography cultivated a holistic work of art, elevating her reputation as an artist to one of international renown.
After extensive touring as a DJ and live act, Mia Grobelny is now back in the studio and continuing to release on Sub Static, including ‘Survivor Part 1’ in July 2010 around the time of her second successful tour in America. Survivor’s second half will be out later this year, as Mia continues to perform around Europe.
