Ministry of Sound 20:20 Exhibition interviews - Part 2
2011 is a significant milestone for Ministry of Sound because it marks their 20th anniversary; to celebrate, they were running The 20:20 Project, an extensive range of activity throughout 2011. In Part 2 of their 20:20 documentary footage - which forms part of the 20:20 Exhibition - the club's founding partners, residents, DJs, door hosts, PRs and club team discuss what makes Ministry of Sound different to other clubs, what their best night at the club was, what the best DJ they heard at the club was and their favourite Ministry of Sound memories.
In a recent New York Times article, "Who Knew That Robots Were Funky?" François K was asked to reflect on his involvement with Kraftwerk: "François Kevorkian, a D.J. at underground clubs in the late ’70s and early ’80s, would use Kraftwerk to blend tracks by Fela Kuti and Babatunde Olatunji into his sets. 'What was really remarkable was that their music was getting played just as much at Paradise Garage as it was getting played at the Mudd Club, and there were very, very few records that had that ability to cross over between all the different scenes,' said Mr. Kevorkian, who would later work with the band on its 'Electric Café' album. 'Kraftwerk was, like, universal.'"

Interview on RESIDENT ADVISOR
"Dance music legend Francois Kevorkian has been manning the decks on-and-off for over 30 years. Three decades: a span of time that signifies a longevity seldom seen in the industry. And when you look at the course of his career, it becomes even more impressive. Kevorkian started out playing drums alongside Walter Gibbons, the man often credited with being the main inspiration to Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles, and soon became a regular guest at Studio 54, The Paradise Garage, and The Loft. After a short layoff to concentrate on small projects such as remixing now-classic tracks like Yazoo's "Situation," Dinosaur L's "Go Bang," and Musique's "In the Bush", mixing Depeche Mode's epochal Violator and Kraftwerk's Electric Café, Kevorkian returned to the heights of the DJ profession alongside Danny Krivit and Joe Claussell as a member of the Body & Soul trio."
