Back in the day when acid was just a tab, DJ Pierre was holed up in his bedroom inventing a style that would impact everything heard in a club. Acid House was in its infancy in 1986, and he was busy with a 303 and his collaborative project, Phuture, with two other local producers. The following year saw the release of 'Acid Tracks' on the legendary Trax label from Chicago. It's been noted as the first Acid House recording, and the sound that came out of it changed techno, house and other genres of dance music forever. Pierre's discography is rich with new ideas that came way before their time. His solo projects with David Morales and Felix Da Housecat as well as his stint as head of A&R at Strictly Rhythm make DJ Pierre a force to be reckoned with.
"There is House Music and then there is ACID House Music, and when you hear the names Phuture, Phantasy and Creator you are talking about DJ Pierre." - Numbers, which re-issued "Mystery Girl" in August 2011.
From 1992 to 2011, we'll have a variety of mixes and podcasts from DJ Pierre. For now, we have a selection from last fall as well as a Kiss 100 FM mix from nearly 20 years ago. Stay tuned for more.
