Mia Grobelny Covers Eno, Restores UR Wedding + Works on New Live Set

UR Wedding took a bit of a hiatus during the winter, but as of March 23rd will return on a weekly basis from Panke in Berlin. The club will host Mia Grobelny and Bleed every Wednesday, and as of mid-April the set will be back online, streaming both video and audio on its UStream channel.

Despite a studio flood and a hard drive crash, Mia has re-started from scratch with her live set and will continue to prepare it for a summer tour*. It hasn't been since 2008 that she performed with a live set that blew everyone away at the Bunker in New York. Her DJ sets are dark, heavy and powerful but her live sets are all her own; maintaining a distinctively soft, feminine tone atop sharp, angular rhythms.

One gem that did survive the crash was a beautiful cover of Brian Eno's "By This River." The original is delicate and patient, and the updated version is much more heartbreaking. Created entirely with analogue about seven years ago, Mia used an Oberheim Matrix 12 and Roland 2h 5 synthesizers along with a Lomox drum machine. Paired with her voice, which is usually icy and whispery on her original productions, her version of "By This River" is warm and pleading.

*Currently booking for live sets for summer 2011. DJ sets are also available. Please contact vicki@forwardmgmt.net for more details. This artist is currently based in Berlin.

Roberto Bosco: Remix on Moldelisme, FLASH Comp Tracklist and Other Updates

There's been a lot going on for Roberto Bosco, and with spring just around the corner we suspect it's only the beginning. Anticipating his release on Ibadan with a remix for Function + Jerome Sydenham, he is also putting out a record on Oliver Deutschmann's Falkplatz label, featuring remixes by Oliver, Ed Davenport and Steffi.

Aside from Steffi recently hitting up The Circle, Roberto's residency in Salerno where he'll soon be playing with Nina Kraviz, he's still hard at work on his debut LP, which is set for a late summer release on Len Faki's Figure.

The Aaron Carl tribute, 'Flash,' which will feature a myriad of artists contributing original tracks has finally released its tracklist and order information on the 6one6 website. Most of the contributors are old-school Detroit names that have been an integral part of what Carl and Detroit has done, and we're happy to see Roberto be a part of the project. Let's not forget that he's also got the Scan7 compilation on the horizon, as well!

Otherwise, the news of the day is that he'll be remixing a track for Claudio Mate (his business partner at Flying Donkey Music, whose latest release is being charted by Peter Van Hoesen and featured on Juno) on Modelisme Records. This label also features Luke Hess, Quantec + Conforce.

Be sure to check out his discography for the latest version.

Photos from Roberto Bosco with Levon Vincent In Salerno

This past weekend, Roberto Bosco played with Levon Vincent in his own hometown of Salerno for The Circle, where he is currently a resident DJ. You can view more pictures in the event's Facebook album. The event was wedged between a stellar January/February lineup that also included Steffi and has Art Department on the 25th. Roberto will be playing for The Circle again in late March...stay tuned to find out who the special guest is!

Bosco + Vincent are a good pair, and we hope a recording of their sets surface in the near future. Their styles are both very deep, diverse and Roberto recently featured two of Levon's tracks in his lauded Electronique podcast. You can hear this, and other mixes, on his freshly updated EPK via Soundcloud.

Francois K + Carl Craig at the TWPENTY Celebration in London, March 5th

"Quintessential Detroit label Planet E will celebrate its 20th anniversary in London this March, with a warehouse party headlined by label founder Carl Craig.

Planet E first launched back in 1991, and over the next ten years put out music by many of the motor city's most influential artists, such as Recloose, Kevin Saunderson and Kenny Dixon Jr. Throughout the '00s the label expanded to release more artists from Europe and the UK, from Kirk Degiorgio to Martin Buttrich to Newworldaquarium. Especially in its early years, the so-called 'futuristic funk' sound of Planet E had immeasurable influence on house and techno that still resonates today.

Craig will share the stage that night with Francois K, another icon of the US's club scene. Matt Edwards, AKA Radio Slave will man the decks as well, along with perennial big room favourite Paul Woolford. Latter day Planet E duo Psycatron will provide support, and more acts are still due to be announced. Though some dilapidated spot in Detroit would probably be ideal, the musty expanse of Ewer Street Car Park should should suit the party just fine." - Resident Advisor
